Si soy de izquierdas, tengo que estar, necesariamente, a favor del aborto,<br /> de la ley de memoria histórica, de la retirada de los crucifijos de las escuelas, de la<br /> causa saharaui, de la legalización de los inmigrantes y de la prohibición de la fiesta<br /> de los toros. Si soy de derechas, además de estar en contra de todo lo que acabo de<br /> mencionar, he de apoyar a muerte a los internautas que abogan por las descargas<br /> ilegales y estar a favor de endurecer las penas para menores que cometan delitos,<br /> por ejemplo. ¿Por qué? ¿No puedo acaso ser de izquierdas y amar la fiesta de los<br /> toros? ¿No es compatible ser progre y a la vez estar en contra del aborto? ¿Y que<br /> tiene de raro estar de acuerdo con la legalización de los inmigrantes, pero no con la<br /> ley de la memoria histórica?<br /> <br /> Lo más peligroso de esta actitud, a mi modo de ver, es el efecto que pueda<br /> tener en los jóvenes. Porque el pensamiento en pack no permite el sano intercambio<br /> de ideas, tampoco la posibilidad de decir:”Yo estoy de acuerdo con esto, pero no con<br /> lo otro”. Formarse es aprender a tener criterio, es tener dudas y no certezas. Porque<br /> la duda es más fecunda que la certeza. Y, además, ¿certeza de qué o de quiénes?<br /> ¿Por qué tengo que abrazar la fe monolítica de otro? ¿No es mucho más lógico que<br /> cada uno tome de una idea lo que le parece razonable y rechace lo que no?<br /> <br /> Es como la peste de lo políticamente correcto que vino a sustituir a la tan<br /> denostada censura y resulta mucho más amordazadora que aquélla. Porque contra<br /> la censura estaba bien visto rebelarse, puesto que venía impuesta desde fuera, pero<br /> la corrección política no es otra cosa que autocensura. Miedo a decir lo que uno<br /> piensa y a no estar en sintonía con la “moral” al uso, cuando a veces esa moral es<br /> completamente estúpida y pseudoprogre. “Pienso, luego existo”, decía René<br /> Descartes, y la frase es tan tópica que de tanto repetirla parece que ya no dice nada.<br /> Y, sin embargo, de eso se trata: de pensar, de no dar por cierto nada de lo que nos<br /> dicen. Que sólo los tontos leen a sus iguales para que los reafirmen en lo que ya<br /> piensan de antemano.
