El poeta Vicente Aleixandre (1898-1984) publica este libro de misticismo panteísta -de raíz pesimista- dentro de su etapa surrealista y que recibió el Premio Nacional de Literatura en 1934. Este libro, igual que los anteriores, responde a su concepción del amor y la muerte identificados en una auténtica visión destructora del ser. El amor es destrucción del ego en fusión con el cuerpo amado que se identifica con la naturaleza. Amar es diluirse en la naturaleza, es decir, morir. Esta concepción enlaza con la del Romanticismo. El poeta vive una vida dolorosa y el mundo también lo es. Sin embargo, el poeta busca amar en medio de tanto dolor, sabiendo de antemano que se destruye amando. El cosmos es enigmático, grandioso. Todo se enfrenta y lucha. El hambre de ser impulsa a la autodestrucción.<br />
<br />
El cuerpo amado es primero de naturaleza acuática. Expresa la idea de la Mujer-Agua/Madre- Agua (o mar) basada en tradiciones diferentes pero no divergentes (Nietzsche, Freud, Valery, Unamuno, tradición esotérica) y el de Heráclito: El cuerpo es en su forma externa y en ese cuerpo el poeta quiere morir para identificarse con la vida. Convierte al ser amado en un cráter de un volcán en erupción en cuya lava -la sangre de ella- el poeta se funde y se integra en la naturaleza.<br />
<br />
Destacan en la segunda parte del poema los verbos volitivos. El poeta intenta ansiosamente identificarse con los elementos de la naturaleza. Se repite reiteradamente el verbo “quiero”: para aproximarse a los límites absolutos de la vida. Poesía en el límite, en la búsqueda del no ser para así alcanzar más plenamente el ser. El cosmos actúa como un disolvente del ser humano. Es su destructor. Y Dios no está al final de este proceso agónico. Concha Zardoya ha visto en este libro una terrible angustia existencial.<br />
<br />
Este poema es de la obra “La destrucción o el amor” que se incluye dentro de la etapa surrealista del poeta. En ella observamos una visión angustiosa y pesimista del hombre. Se expresa el deseo de fundirse con la naturaleza para formar una unidad con ella. La muerte es considerada como liberación y el amor es expresado con la pasión de fundirse con el amado, única manera de morir y renacer en el otro ser.<br />
<br />
El poema "Unidad en ella" responde a la concepción que Aleixandre tiene del amor y la muerte confundidos en una total y luminosa afirmación del ser. A través de sorprendentes imágenes de clara ascendencia surrealista, el poeta identifica a la persona amada con el universo, de forma tal que amar es diluirse en la Naturaleza. El cuerpo femenino, en su forma externa, es "diamante o rubí duro, / brillo de un sol que entre mis manos deslumbra, / cráter que me convoca con su música íntima," (versos 5-7); y en ese cuerpo femenino quiere morir el poeta para sentir, precisamente, la vida. Convertida la amada en un cráter -verso 5-, el poeta la imagina como un volcán en erupción, en cuya lava -la sangre de ella- quisiera integrarse y alcanzar así su anhelo de fusión cósmica:<br />

El verso amplio y los constantes paralelismos -con la consiguiente semejanza en la estructura sintáctica- confieren al poema un sostenido ritmo poético, que va acompañado de una creciente intensidad del sentimiento, hasta llegar al último verso, en el que se proclama la unidad del Universo.</div>Inigosendino
